Continuing on from my post yesterday, this was one of our best Christmas’s yet – which is probably why it flew by so quick.
One of the most convenient things about having house elves, is that when you forget to send letters to Santa on time… the elves can magically whisk them away to the North Pole just days before Christmas. The kids both wrote their letters out and put them on the tree, and the next day answers from Santa were in their stockings!
On Christmas Eve the kids got to play with Elfie and Snowflake because Santa picks them up when he drops off presents. Cordelia especially loved being able to give them hugs and kisses.
On Christmas eve we went to my in-laws for munchie night – we all make appetizers and eat (and eat… and eat). This was the first year that the kids were both awake when we got home, so they were able to help put out the cookies, milk, and carrots as well as press the button on the Santa Stop Here beacon. It was also the first year that we just straight up used the same wrapping paper for everything… and thankfully the kids didn’t question it!
The one thing that never fails to amaze us is the lack of urgency our kids have on Christmas morning. Almost every other day of the year someone is crawling into our bed by 5:30, but on Christmas… their gift to us is sleeping in. A little before 7 my son was leaving the washroom and headed back to his room thinking that Santa still hadn’t come, and we had to wake Cordelia up which we never have to do!
The gift that won the day, over his new gaming system and video games, was Bobby’s new Cappy hat. He had seen it at Rafters when he was shopping with my husband, and we bought them both new housecoats so that was the first gift they both opened. His reaction was priceless. Bobby made us a Peruvian mask and painted it gold, he even made his own wrapping paper… he was very excited to give it to us and it is now proudly hanging in our hallway. Cordelia loved her new Barbies and Barbie clothes, and our new little bot Cozmo was a gift from Santa to the family which has been hours of entertainment.
After festivities at home we headed back over to my in-laws to open stockings and have an amazing Christmas dinner (as always), followed up by 2 weeks of hanging out at home with the family. We played games, watched movies, and had a few days of absolutely nothing… it was amazing.
Unfortunately my husband was sick over New Years – but I made the most of it by playing Pie Face and watching Despicable Me 3 with the kids. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season, one of my 2018 goals is to post more… we’ll see how it goes lol.
