even bloggers need a vacation

bloghiatusYou may have noticed that it’s been quiet around here lately, or maybe you haven’t… that’s okay too. I wanted to post so that anyone who is stopping by would know why. When I started this blog 2.5 years ago, I had just started mat leave and needed something to fill my time. These past few months work has been insane, and now that the weather has warmed up I am wanting to spend any free time I have outside with the kids. This doesn’t mean that I won’t post at all over the next couple months, but if I do it will be sporadic at best. Each post can easily take 3-4 hours, so on a rainy day or when I’m feeling particularly productive there might be one or two ♥ I still intend on updating my instagram regularly as it’s an easy one to keep up with and if you aren’t already following me, I’d love it if you did!

I won’t be taking a vacation from reading blogs though… and I wanted to post some of the ones that I look at most often, so if you aren’t already reading them I highly suggest checking them out!

Chantals Corner – Chantal posts the most beautiful nail polish swatches, as well as unboxings and product reviews – both in blog and video form!
Cosmetic Proof – Jayne’s nails are my #nailgoals, and her nail designs are second to none.
The Notice – Rae is a fellow Edmontonian and her blog is wonderful, her photography is beautiful and she not only reviews makeup, she reviews sex toys too!
Swatch and Review – Julie’s blog is one of the first beauty blogs I ever read, her photos are always amazing and her product reviews are fantastic!
Up the Rollercoaster – Jodi not only blogs about makeup, she also blogs about tea and every time she posts about a new one I want to go out and try it.
Makeup Your Mind – Chelle is a master of colour, seriously this girl can pull off anything beautifully! If it wasn’t for her and her blog, I’d probably still only be wearing neutral eyeshadow.
Natalie Loves Beauty – I absolutely love Natalie’s blog and her get ready with me videos.
Workaday Beauty – Sarah posts her FOTD’s daily and they are always beautiful. She also maintains a fantastic Canadian indie company list!

And with that, I hope you all have an amazing summer. Thank you for reading ♥

l’oreal colour riche lip colour in berry blush

l'oreal colour riche lip colour in berry blushI know it’s been quiet around here, I’ve been trying to play catch up in all aspects of life and I’m not quite there yet… So today I bring you a short review of one of my new favourite lipsticks – L’oreal Colour Riche Lip Colour in Berry Blush.

Indulge in desirable richness with our luxuriously rich color and intense hydration. Colour Riche® Lipcolour is richer, creamier and more moisturizing than ever before. Its rich formula is enriched with a combination of Omega-3 and Vitamin E and leaves your lips feeling moisturised.

The name sums up the colour perfectly – it provides a beautiful splash of berry colour to my lips. It has a Creamsheen type finish – not fully sheer, but creamy and glossy with decent pigmentation and I get about 1.5 hours of wear before I feel the need to reapply (a bit more if I don’t eat or drink). There is a bit of glitter which makes it feel gritty when you are applying it, but I don’t really notice it once it’s on. Like the rest of the L’oreal Colour Riche Lip Colours, it does have that sort of waxy/plastic scent that a lot of people are turned off by… and while I do prefer the vanilla scent of a MAC lipstick, or the citrus scent of the new Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipsticks, for 1/3 of the price I’m okay with it!

I’m wearing it below with the UD x Gwen palette on my lids and Hourglass Ambient Flush on my cheeks ♥

too faced sweet peach eyeshadow palette

too faced sweet peach eyeshadow paletteI know I know… you’ve all seen so many sweet peach reviews that your heads are probably spinning… so I’ll keep mine short – I just love it so much I just had to share.

If you aren’t familiar with it – The Too Faced Sweet Peach palette was one of the hardest items to get so far this year up here in Canada, with an extremely frustrating and limited online release, and less than 10 at most stores. I was lucky enough to grab it when it restocked on Sephora’s site and while the reviews have been extremely mixed… I love it and would highly recommend it if you can get your hands on it.

The packaging is like the other large Too Faced palettes, made of tin with a magnetic closure. The mirror is pretty useless and I wish it didn’t have the cardboard around it, it would have been nice if the entire lid was the mirror and the peach smily was in the corner.

The palette has 18 shades total, and smells (& tastes… I licked my arm after swatching… no judging) like fuzzy peaches. I’ve found two of the shades in the palette are a pretty big fail – Delectable and Talk Derby To Me – the pigmentation just isn’t there, it’s really unfortunate because the rest swatched so beautifully.

I have included the two looks I’ve done most often down below and I’ll continue to play with it and post on instagram!

For the first look I am wearing White Peach all over, Candied Peach in my crease, Bellini on my lid, a bit of Summer Yum on the outer corner, and I think a bit of Just Peachy on the inner corner as well as Bless Her Heart on my lower lashline. Wearing it with Too Faced Melted Metallic Macaron.
