For me, winter + dermatillomania/CSP = constantly chapped lips. I always have a lipbalm of some sort on me (current favourite: Blistex Nurture & Nourish), but sometimes I need a bit more to help me break the cycle of dry skin and CSP… and my favourite way to do that this season is with the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Scrub & Champagne Lip Mask.
Like all Bite Beauty products, these are food-grade, paraben and sulphate free, and hand-crafted in Toronto.
Agave Lip Scrub | $20.00 CAD / 0.26 oz
Polish and exfoliate with the NEW Agave Sugar Lip Scrub. This enzymatic scrub includes brown sugar and pineapple enzymes to leave lips feeling soft and smooth.
The glass jar packaging is wonderful, and I don’t think they could have squeezed any more product in to it. This sugar scrub isn’t super gritty, but it exfoliates nicely. I didn’t read the instructions and the first time I just put it on, scrubbed for a few minutes and rinsed it off… but you are supposed to add a bit of water once you’ve applied it to your lips, which creates a “cleansing milky emulsion”. I scrub for a minute or two and then rinse the excess off. It leaves my lips feeling wonderful, but I still always follow it up with the Bite Beauty Lip Mask, or lip balm and Vaseline if I exfoliated before bed. Try not to get any in your mouth though, it does not taste nice!
Champagne Agave Lip Mask | $30.00 CAD / 0.52 oz
This innovative formula smooths, nourishes, and hydrates lips with a bioactive blend of organic agave nectar, jojoba oil, vanilla co2 extract, and triple the amount of the antioxidant trans-resveratrol found in red wine.
The first Bite Beauty product I ever tried was the clear version of this lip mask. It was a deluxe sample in a gift set with a sample lip scrub in a cute little jar, and it was an instant favourite. This time I wanted the Champagne shade so that I could wear it during the day and my lips would still have a bit of colour. The mask is extremely thick and I don’t feel the need to reapply for a couple hours. It isn’t the easiest product to apply on the go, and it also isn’t the cheapest product, so I’ll usually just apply it in the morning and then use a different lip gloss or balm throughout the day.
I love the subtle colour and shimmer it gives my lips, and even though it is thick it doesn’t leave my lips feeling sticky.
