I received this set while I was on my hiatus and didn’t get a chance to break in to it until this past weekend. I’ve reviewed Demeter Fragrances in the past and am constantly impressed by the scents. They make it so easy to create your signature scent with their foolproof blending trios, or you can mix and match with individual scents.
For this I did a bit of both… I received three scents, a foolproof blending toolkit, and some fun items to decorate my bottle. The 3 scents I received were Pure Soap, Wet Garden, and Salt Air.
Pure Soap: Feel fresh from the shower clean… anytime… Anywhere There is nothing quite like the clean smell of freshly showered skin, especially when a pure, unscented soap is used. Demeter’s Pure Soap is inspired by the scent of skin freshly scrubbed with Ivory Soap… clean skin with just a faint trace remaining of pure soap smell… almost like a memory of the soap, rather than the soap itself. Demeter’s Pure Soap is a subtle yet powerful scent, the kind of fragrance that is Pure Demeter.
Wet Garden: Not perhaps the original Wet Garden, but . . . very popular! Just as all Dirt is not created equal, so too, all Wet Gardens are not created equal. In the case of our Demeter Wet Garden, time is as important as place. Our Wet Garden takes place at Easter, full of early spring flowers, including young shoots and buds, after a hard April rain. It is the combinations of those flowers, the rain and the oils from the rich spring soil that comprise this fragrance, one of the most complex in the Library, but one that remains accessible, understandable and eminently wearable.
Salt Air: Imagine a perfect sea breeze on the perfect beach at your favorite tropical island. Now you have the perfect description of Demeter’s Salt Air. There’s just no denying it… Demeter’s Salt Air will have you thinking of that last vacation and much needed new one. Take off to the land of tranquility where the scent of the sea breeze wakes you up each day and sends you off to dreamland at night. But don’t forget to book your airfare early!
I played around with the test strips and loved the combination of the three, but I didn’t think it would be something I’d wear regularly… so instead for my blend I went with equal parts of Salt Air and Pure Soap, and then added in an equal part of Sunshine and some Lavender because it’s one of my favourites. I called my blend ‘bright sunshiny day’ and with winter basically here it will be a great combo to remind me of summer!
