Little known fact about me – I love to play trumpet. I started when I was 7 or 8 playing cornet (a smaller version of a trumpet) at the church I attended, and then moved on to playing trumpet in junior high and high school. I ended up losing mine at some point and my husband surprised me with a new one for Christmas 4 years ago. One of the things that has always amazed me was the beating my lips would take after long sessions of playing and practicing, so I was very excited to test out Gosling’s ChopSaver.
Dan Gosling is a professional trumpet player and was inspired to make this product after a conversation he had with a student who injured himself during a performance, and it led to him spending 2 months in his kitchen mixing natural healing elements and plant-based moisturizers until he found exactly what he was looking for.
One of the big ingredients is Arnica, a natural healing agent derived from a sunflower which reduces bruising and swelling. It also has shea butter, mango butter, avocado oil, aloe, citrus oils and grapeseed oil. It has SPF 15, smells like citrus and feels amazing on my lips. I don’t only use it before and after practice, I use it constantly and even with the extremely cold dry weather we are having lately they feel better than they have in a long time. My husband is a lip balm addict and I have been hiding it from him because I know if he tries it he’ll want it – thankfully they sell it at Long & McQuade so I’ll be able to get more! It’s also available at CVS/pharmacies and online.
