I haven’t used powder foundation in years… Any that I’ve tried have always left my skin looking very… well… powdery. So I wasn’t expecting much when I first tried the Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Skin-Transforming Powder.
As I’ve mentioned in the past, my skin has some hyper-pigmentation from my pregnancy with Cordelia which thankfully has started to fade, as well as some redness and acne scarring. I was sent two shades: 80 – Rich Tan and 20 – Classic Ivory. Classic Ivory was almost a perfect match for my summer skin tone.
The packaging is perfect for tossing in my purse to do touch ups throughout the day, though I really don’t need to unless I am touching my face a lot. The sponge applicator works great and applies the powder wonderfully… and I’ve been able to wash it multiple times without it losing shape or falling apart.
The powder is oil-free, and containes salicylic acid which they say will help you achieve better-looking skin in just three weeks. I can’t say that my skin has improved from using it, but I also haven’t had any real breakouts so maybe it has. As you can see in the shots below, it does eliminate shine and unevenness, and gives a nice matte finish. It doesn’t completely cover everything, so on the darker hyperpigmentation (left side of photo) I usually apply some Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer before applying the powder.
Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Skin-Transforming Powder is Dermatologist and allergy tested, non-comedogenic, is suitable for sensitive skin and all skin types, and comes in eight shades.
My skin feels like I’m not wearing foundation at all when I have this on and it’s still in place at the end of my work day. It really is amazing. I have already hit pan on this one, so I’ll be picking up another soon!
