maybelline the rock nudes eyeshadow palette

maybelline the rock nudes eyeshadow paletteHappy Monday! I’ve been posting a lot about the new Maybelline products and I’m continuing that today with their new palette – The Rock Nudes:

Dare to rock nude with this 12-shade eye shadow palette edited for edge Sultry, brooding, daring-whatever your mood demands, this 12-shade palette will deliver the ultimate smoky rock nude look From maddening matte black to knock out navy, bring out your inner rockstar.

The shadows in the pan are gorgeous and a great mix of mattes, shimmer and micro-glitter – unfortunately they aren’t nearly as pigmented as I hoped. I find that they work best if applied over the Color Tattoo Concentrated Crayons, or if I pat a bit on with my finger or a damp brush. I struggled with blending out the darker shades and found they were really patchy. I had to apply a bit, blend out… apply more… blend again… pat some on… etc… it took a lot more time than I like to regularly spend. Unfortunately it’s a miss for me… I really wanted to love this and I hope that they change their eye shadow formula and re-release this in the future because the shades are oh so pretty!

The swatches below are without primer, and the look is with UD Primer potion.

    1. Hi Dawn, thank you! Honestly I’m not versed on product ingredients and how safe they are – it’s definitely something I should start doing though and I appreciate the suggestion! Here are the ingredients for this palette 🙂

      1. Thank you for sending me this info! It is very interesting. I would be happy to suggest a free app for your smart phone that helps you determine how a product rates for safety. It’s really fun and easy. I use that app “Skin Deep” and I have a list that I use when I can’t find an item on the app. It’s been helpful for me & my family. Slowly we are transitioning to safer products. Let me know if you ever want to incorporate this in your blog. I can try to answer any questions about it. Im trying to learn more every day. d xo

    1. Yeah it’s not nearly as ‘rockstar’ as I had hoped on its own. It’s nice for a light smoky type eye but I really had hoped for more – just means I have to buy the UD Naked Smoky palette now.
