October felt like it was over as soon as it started! Can you believe there are only 53 days until Christmas?? We started and ended the month with dressing up. First up was ‘Dress as Your Favourite Book Character’ day at school and Bobby chose Geronimo Stilton. I am not a crafty person by any means so I was very proud of myself for DIYing this up for him the day before.
Cordelia came down with an awful fever/sickness during the Thanksgiving long weekend… so while I did still make a turkey with all the trimmings, Cordelia had just a few bites before going back to lie down and we spent the rest of the weekend cuddling on the couch. My husband bought a second turkey so that we could have a thanksgiving re-do next weekend and I am really looking forward to it!
My husband and Bobby both attended their fall TKD tournament and had a lot of fun. Cordi and I ended up leaving a bit early because she was exhausted… but I did get to see him win a bronze medal for his pattern and my husband got a few shots of his sparring. In the end, my husband received a silver medal for his pattern, a gold for sparring, and Bobby received two bronze medals.
Cordelia is absolutely obsessed with ballet and was so excited to get her tutu. As soon as she puts her ballet slippers on she tries to stand on her tip-toes, and she’d pirouette constantly if she didn’t get dizzy! She got to wear her Halloween costume to class last weekend and I think she wishes she could wear it every day.
Pumpkin carving was a lot of fun. Bobby still doesn’t really want anything to do with it (he thinks they smell bad and that the insides are gross – which they kinda are), but Cordelia loved it! We helped her scrape the pumpkin but she cleaned it out all on her own. Bobby picked a Sonic picture and Cordelia picked Pikachu and were both very happy with the end result. We also spent the day making roasted pumpkin seeds and pumpkin chocolate chip cookies which were a huge hit and very easy for them to help with!
Halloween day the weather was pretty miserable. It was cold and windy with a mix of rain and snow, so we weren’t planning on being out trick-or-treating for long. At one of the last houses Cordelia got spooked by a few animatronic spiders, and once she had calmed down just said ‘I’m done mommy’, so home we went. We had left a bowl of candy on the porch and am pretty sure someone came and dumped the whole bowl in their bag because it was empty and there weren’t that many kids in the neighbourhood. The kids were very happy with the treats they received though and like Bobby said a couple times that day ‘it’s not about the treats, it’s about exploring the neighbourhood!’
Hope you had a wonderful October!
