September was a big month for the kids; Cordelia turned 4 and started ballet, and Bobby started Grade 3. I already feel like I took for granted how relaxed the summer was, it really didn’t feel that way at the time. We have settled into a pretty good routine though, and while it does feel like we aren’t accomplishing everything we’d like to each week… we are happy and (mostly) healthy so that’s all that matters.
Bobby has been excited about starting Grade 3 since the last day of Grade 2. I am shocked at the amount of homework he already has, and trying to balance school, homework, taekwondo, and letting him just be a kid is difficult. He is handling it quite well though and is totally okay with running through spelling words while eating his breakfast, or working on math problems while I’m exercising. He reads a book outloud to Cordelia every night, and then spends another 30-60 minutes reading chapter books before falling asleep.
He still has moments when he gets a bit frustrated because he can’t figure something out but I find those moments are happening with less frequency. He jumps out of bed every morning happy to be going to school and I hope he continues to love school this much!
We wanted to put Cordelia into dance class this fall and had originally signed her up for hip hop classes, but when we told her we signed her up for dance she started talking about being a ballerina and how she wanted to twirl and dance… so we quickly switched her to ballet.
She did so well in her first class and asks almost daily when she gets to go again. As soon as she has her ballet outfit on she starts to twirl and tries to stand on her tiptoes. We get her tutu in a couple weeks and I think it’ll be hard to get her out of it once she has it!
Little Miss Cordelia also turned 4 this month. We had a small family get-together with pizza, and an amazing barbie cake my super talented SIL made and decorated. Bobby bought her a Super-Soft-Shopkins blanket because she’s always trying to take his Super-Soft-Avengers blanket, and my husband and I spent the night before building her Barbie dreamhouse so that when she opened the box we could surprise her with the ready-to-play version.
The month flew by so fast and October is going by even faster. Only 74 days until Christmas (sorry)!
