My skin is generally pretty normal, but I am starting to develop fine lines and wrinkles, and I have had a bit of pregnancy mask that refuses to go away… so when the opportunity to review a couple of SkinCeuticals products that might help, I was extremely excited to try them. I have been testing both for 8 weeks – here are my thoughts!
C E Ferulic | $166 – 30mL
A daytime vitamin C serum that delivers advanced environmental protection and improves the appearance of lines and wrinkles, loss of firmness, and brightens skin’s complexion.
C E Ferulic features a synergistic antioxidant combination of 15% pure vitamin C (l-ascorbic acid), 1% vitamin E (alpha tocopherol), and 0.5% ferulic acid to strengthen skin’s natural protection from free radicals induced by environmental stressors such as UVA/UVB, infrared radiation (IRA), and pollution, which may lead to visible signs of accelerated skin aging. In addition to antioxidant protective benefits, C E Ferulic improves signs of aging and photodamage, the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and the loss of firmness, while brightening skin’s complexion.
This daytime serum contains Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Ferulic Acid and claims to provide advanced environmental protection by neutralizing damaging free radicals, as well as providing visible anti-aging benefits. The instructions are to use it every morning on a freshly clean face, so 2 months ago… first thing in the morning after showering, I opened this up to apply a few drops to my face and… oh my gosh the smell… like smoked meat. I’m not gonna lie, I gagged – it was not something I was prepared for. The first couple days the scent seemed to last forever… the more I used it though, the less I noticed it – and now I barely notice it.
I am usually a big fan of droppers for serums, but my understanding is that it isn’t the best packaging for a product like this – as the antioxidants are oxygen-sensitive and lose their effectiveness over time… so a pump would be better.
I originally used it for about 4 weeks every morning, and didn’t feel like there was any difference… so I stopped for a weekend and almost immediately realized how much it was actually doing for my skin. The texture of my skin was just better after I started up again, it looks brighter and I do feel as though it has helped fade some of my scarring and fine lines. Unfortunately, the price is so far above and beyond what I can afford to spend on my skincare right now – it comes in at $166 for 30mL. 2 months in and I’ve used about 2/3 of the bottle. The moment that I am able to afford this though, it will become a constant in my regimen because I am already dreading not having this anymore!

Advanced Skin Discoloration Corrector | $104 – 30mL
A daily multi-action treatment to reduce the appearance of stubborn skin discoloration and improve skin tone evenness.
Advanced Pigment Corrector is clinically proven and tested on all ethnicities to improve the appearance of stubborn skin discoloration and uneven skin tone as it boosts the appearance of radiance. Skin discoloration is often caused by accumulated sun exposure, hormonal shifts, and the natural aging process, Advanced Pigment Corrector is a multi-action comprehensive technology working to exfoliate skin to reduce the appearance of discoloration.
I have been using this twice a day: in the morning right after C E Ferulic, and at night directly on my skin. I am really glad I took before photos because I didn’t think it had done anything, but after 8 weeks I do see a bit of a reduction in the discoloration around my eyes. Enough for the $104 price tag? I don’t know. I am going to continue to use this twice a day until the bottle is done – I think I am about halfway through it so far, fingers crossed I see even more of an improvement once the bottle is empty!
