Hello March

I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited to start a new month – February was a tough one. Like I mentioned in My Kingdom for a Good Night’s Sleep, Bobby was really sick for two weeks. It started at the end of January… we had just bought him a new loft bed for his birthday, and he had gone upstairs to lie down because he just wasn’t feeling fantastic. 20 minutes later I heard ‘mommy…’ and ran upstairs to see that he had gotten sick… from the top step of his new bed. We got him cleaned up and set him up on a pad on the floor and spent the next 4 hours cleaning his entire room because it. was. everywhere.

reset. realign. restart.

restart2I can’t believe it’s almost been 5 months since I last posted. The summer went by in the blink of an eye… and there’s already snow on the ground. Bobby started grade two, Cordelia turned three, and I completed another trip around the sun as well. Over the next few weeks I’ll post highlights from during my hiatus because deep down those are the posts I miss writing the most.

So you may have noticed things are a little different… After almost 3 years Lipstick & Lullabies just didn’t resonate with me anymore, so I decided to go with my name instead! It will take some time for me to get everything up and running again (and there may be some broken links), but I have really missed my little space on the web, and I am looking forward to getting back at it.

I hope you all had a wonderful summer! Thank you for reading, and please let me know what you think of the new layout! ♥

even bloggers need a vacation

bloghiatusYou may have noticed that it’s been quiet around here lately, or maybe you haven’t… that’s okay too. I wanted to post so that anyone who is stopping by would know why. When I started this blog 2.5 years ago, I had just started mat leave and needed something to fill my time. These past few months work has been insane, and now that the weather has warmed up I am wanting to spend any free time I have outside with the kids. This doesn’t mean that I won’t post at all over the next couple months, but if I do it will be sporadic at best. Each post can easily take 3-4 hours, so on a rainy day or when I’m feeling particularly productive there might be one or two ♥ I still intend on updating my instagram regularly as it’s an easy one to keep up with and if you aren’t already following me, I’d love it if you did!

I won’t be taking a vacation from reading blogs though… and I wanted to post some of the ones that I look at most often, so if you aren’t already reading them I highly suggest checking them out!

Chantals Corner – Chantal posts the most beautiful nail polish swatches, as well as unboxings and product reviews – both in blog and video form!
Cosmetic Proof – Jayne’s nails are my #nailgoals, and her nail designs are second to none.
The Notice – Rae is a fellow Edmontonian and her blog is wonderful, her photography is beautiful and she not only reviews makeup, she reviews sex toys too!
Swatch and Review – Julie’s blog is one of the first beauty blogs I ever read, her photos are always amazing and her product reviews are fantastic!
Up the Rollercoaster – Jodi not only blogs about makeup, she also blogs about tea and every time she posts about a new one I want to go out and try it.
Makeup Your Mind – Chelle is a master of colour, seriously this girl can pull off anything beautifully! If it wasn’t for her and her blog, I’d probably still only be wearing neutral eyeshadow.
Natalie Loves Beauty – I absolutely love Natalie’s blog and her get ready with me videos.
Workaday Beauty – Sarah posts her FOTD’s daily and they are always beautiful. She also maintains a fantastic Canadian indie company list!

And with that, I hope you all have an amazing summer. Thank you for reading ♥
