too faced merry macarons eyeshadow palette

too faced christmas in new york merry macarons Anyone else counting down the days until Christmas already? I am so ready for the holidays this year. My husband and I took Monday off and got most of our Christmas shopping done for the kids, which is easily a month ahead of what we normally manage to get done. I love the ‘hustle and bustle’ of holiday shopping though (is that weird?) so I’ll find some excuse to shop in December. On to today’s review…

Too Faced Merry Macarons is (unfortunately for us Canadians) an Ulta exclusive. It includes 12 (0.47oz) vanilla scented shades, a deluxe sample (0.17oz) of Better Than Sex Mascara, and comes in the cutest packaging. I think I took more photos of the packaging than the product itself… it’s just so… pink!

Shades:
• Coconut (warm beige)
• Dulce De Leche (matte caramel brown)
• Banana Cream (warm golden medium brown)
• Almond Mocha (cool dark taupe)
• Champagne Rose (golden pink)
• Mint Chocolate (matte warm dusty purple)
• Tiramisu (matte soft fawn)
• Chocolate Raspberry (deep amethyst)
• Praline (warm gold shimmer)
• Honey Lavender (pale mauve)
• Violet Cassis (vibrant orchid)
• Cookies & Cream (matte black w/ silver sparkle)

This is a very neutral palette, with Violet Cassis being the exception. I was surprised at how pigmented the entire bottom row was… unfortunately the lighting wasn’t cooperating with me and I don’t feel the swatches do them justice, it shows up a bit better in the look that I did which is also below. The vanilla scent is very delicate, lighter than the chocolate bar palettes, but just as lovely to smell first thing in the morning.

This definitely isn’t a must-have… the shades aren’t groundbreaking, but it is a beautiful palette. The shadows all apply and blend wonderfully, and the packaging is adorable, so if you can get your hands on it I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!

Coconut all over, Dulce de Leche and Mint Chocolate in my crease, Almond Mocha in the outer corner, Honey Lavender on center of lid, Champagne Rose on inner corner, Violet Cassis on lower lash line.

anastasia master palette by marioWe can’t all have Kim Kardashian’s makeup artist, but with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Master Palette by Mario we can pretend! This limited edition palette was created with celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic, and is filled with gorgeous neutral and jewel-toned shades. It’s the perfect fall / winter palette!

The packaging isn’t great – it feels like cardboard. The mirror is okay, I don’t tend to use eyeshadow palette mirrors for applying makeup so it’s unimportant to me overall but it could be larger for those that do. I haven’t used the double ended brush, but it seems to be a lightweight plastic and the bristles feel a bit scratchy. Now that I’ve covered the not-so-great… on to the great (and most important part)… the shadows themselves.

– 12 x 0.02 oz/ 0.5 mL Eye shadows in:
Hollywood (metallic wheat gold with a satin finish)
NYC (rich chocolate brown with a satin finish)
Kim (tan with a satin finish)
Muse (rose gold with a satin finish)
Marina (champagne with a metallic finish)
Claudia (slate with a velvet finish)
Lula (soft taupe with an ultra-matte finish)
Isabel (burnt orange with an ultra-matte finish)
Violeta (dark chocolate with an ultra-matte finish)
5th Ave (gold leaf with a metallic finish)
Bronx (metallic olive with a satin finish)
Paris (gilded brown with a satin finish)

Every shade is extremely soft and buttery. This is my first ABH palette and was shocked at how soft the shadows are – you need to use a light hand when getting product, or you will kick up a lot of extra powder which in turn causes a lot of fallout. I always apply my eyeshadow before my foundation so it’s easy to clean up, but if you apply foundation first it’s something to keep in mind. The shadows are very pigmented and blend beautifully, and I haven’t had any issues with it staying in place all day, though I haven’t tried wearing them without primer.

The swatches below are one swipe without primer, and below that are the two looks I have done the most – the first with NYC, Muse, and Marina on my lid with Bronx on my lower lash line, and the second with Bronx, Paris, and 5th Ave with Claudia on my lower lash line.

Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette

too faced sweet peach eyeshadow paletteI know I know… you’ve all seen so many sweet peach reviews that your heads are probably spinning… so I’ll keep mine short – I just love it so much I just had to share.

If you aren’t familiar with it – The Too Faced Sweet Peach palette was one of the hardest items to get so far this year up here in Canada, with an extremely frustrating and limited online release, and less than 10 at most stores. I was lucky enough to grab it when it restocked on Sephora’s site and while the reviews have been extremely mixed… I love it and would highly recommend it if you can get your hands on it.

The packaging is like the other large Too Faced palettes, made of tin with a magnetic closure. The mirror is pretty useless and I wish it didn’t have the cardboard around it, it would have been nice if the entire lid was the mirror and the peach smily was in the corner.

The palette has 18 shades total, and smells (& tastes… I licked my arm after swatching… no judging) like fuzzy peaches. I’ve found two of the shades in the palette are a pretty big fail – Delectable and Talk Derby To Me – the pigmentation just isn’t there, it’s really unfortunate because the rest swatched so beautifully.

I have included the two looks I’ve done most often down below and I’ll continue to play with it and post on instagram!

For the first look I am wearing White Peach all over, Candied Peach in my crease, Bellini on my lid, a bit of Summer Yum on the outer corner, and I think a bit of Just Peachy on the inner corner as well as Bless Her Heart on my lower lashline. Wearing it with Too Faced Melted Metallic Macaron.
