The Body Shop British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask

the body shop british rose fresh plumping maskI love face masks, I love The Body Shop, and I love the smell of roses… so I had no doubt I would love their new British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask.

Grow your glow with our British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask. Inspired by the European bathing rituals, our 100% vegan refreshing gel face mask is infused with real rose petals, rose essence, rosehip oil and organic Community Trade aloe vera. Reveal skin that’s replenished with moisture and visibly smooth with a youthful dewy appearance. Perfect used with our Facial Mask Brush, it makes for the most beautiful facial at home experience.

• 100% vegan
• Formulated without parabens, paraffins, silicones or mineral oils
• Refreshing gel face mask
• For skin that needs to be quenched and re-plumped with moisture to reveal its dewy glow again
• Moisturises, soothes and tones skin
• Infused with real rose petals, rose essence from Britain, rosehip oil from Chile and organic Community Trade aloe vera from Mexico

A year or so ago I tried a sample of the Rose Face Mask by Fresh and really liked it, but the $75/100ml price tag was just too much for me. The British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask is a lot more affordable at $28.00/75ml.

This mask can be used daily (I use it Monday/Wednesday/Friday), and you wear it for 5-10 minutes. I like to apply it with my MAC 190 foundation brush, but The Body Shop also sells a less expensive Facial Mask Brush. You can apply this with your fingers as well, but I find applying with a brush makes it feel more spa-like and luxurious.

Now, if you are scent-sensitive, or don’t like the smell of roses, you will want to skip this. Roses fill the room as soon as I open the jar. Once it’s on my face it’s a delicate scent, and it fades (or I just don’t notice it) by the time I take it off 10 minutes later. It is a gel mask so it has a wonderful cooling sensation as I apply it, it’s easy to rinse off, and my skin feels extremely soft and hydrated after washing it off.

the body shop oils of life intensely revitalizing gel cream

the body shop oils of life intensely moisturizing gel creamI am really loving this Oils of Life Gel Cream from The Body Shop. The glass jar packaging is simple and beautiful, and I have become a big fan of the gel formula. It absorbs extremely quick into my skin and I’m able to apply my primer immediately after which makes my morning routine just a bit faster. (every minute counts!) It has an earthy scent to it that isn’t overwhelming, but it is different – my husband likes that it is a moisturizer he can use that doesn’t smell ‘girly’.

Our Oils of Life™ Intensely Revitalizing Gel Cream is a lightweight moisturizer that nourishes the skin with a non-greasy feel. Essential oils leave skin feeling softer, hydrated, and radiant, while illuminating micro pearls create a radiant finish.

We searched around the world and selected 3 precious seed oils known for their supreme revitalizing and repairing properties on skin:
Black Cumin Seed Oil from Egypt- known for its concentration in antioxidants
Rosehip Seed Oil from Chile- rich in repairing omega 3 and 6
Camellia Seed Oil from China- naturally rich in nutritive oleic acid

For more intense moisture – they also have this in a cream, and I am intrigued by the facial oil.

at home pampering: body shop spa of the world

the body shop spa of the world I rarely get the opportunity to go to the spa, so I am always looking for products I can use to pamper myself with at home. One of my favourite things to do on a Friday evening after the kids have gone to bed and my husband has gone out to play poker with the boys, is binge watch Netflix and treat myself to an at-home spa night. The Body Shop’s Spa of the World collection is full of products perfect for a night like that, and I have two to review today!

Moroccan Rhassoul Body Clay
the body shop spa of the world the body shop spa of the world the body shop spa of the world Rhassoul clay is treasured by Moroccan women for its skin firming power, as this mineral-rich mask absorbs excess water and oil, allowing skin to tighten and feel firmer as it dries. Use this toning mask as part of our revitalising ritual when you want your body and mind to feel re-energised.
Firming clay body mask
Contours the body to leave skin looking and feeling more toned
Revitalises body and mind
With Rhassoul clay from The Atlas Mountains, Morocco

The instructions are to apply a thin layer to your tummy, arms, and legs… let it work for 10 minutes and then rinse off using firm circular motions. The mask absorbs oil and water which makes your skin appear more toned.

To start, it smells amazing. It’s relaxing and exactly what I’d expect a clay body mask to smell like at the spa. No getting around it, it’s messy… you’re putting clay all over your body. I make sure to put down some towels or a sheet that I can toss in the wash afterwards so I don’t have to stand for the 10 – 15 minutes I leave it on. I’ve only been using this once a week because right now I just don’t have time (prep, application, leaving it on, rinsing it off takes 30 – 40 minutes) and while I don’t notice a difference right after rinsing, I do notice it the next morning. My skin feels softer and less jiggly, and my cellulite appears reduced. It isn’t a miracle treatment that is going to get rid of all the extra fluff on my stomach, legs and arms but it feels really great… and that’s worth the $22 for me! I will be picking up the Body Mask Brush to add to that ‘spa feeling’ and to keep my hands clean!

Polynesian Monoï Radiance Oil
the body shop spa of the world the body shop spa of the world Used by the women of the Pacific Islands for over 2,000 years for luscious, glowing skin and hair, Monoï is a sacred blend of coconut oil and fragrant tiare flowers – a sublime escape to paradise. Use this radiance-enhancing oil as part of our blissful ritual when your body is in need of luxury.
Radiant body & hair oil
Adds lustre and leaves skin and hair feeling conditioned
Indulges body and mind
With tiare flower from French Polynesia

I wish I could bathe in this. Sometimes I just open the bottle and smell it for a bit. I’ve never smelt a tiare flower before, but I will be looking for products that have this scent because I absolutely love it. I apply it to my skin after getting out of the shower and a bit to my hair after blowdrying. It leaves my skin feeling amazing and my hair looking shiny and healthy.
