kat von d tattoo liner in trooper

kat von d tattoo liner in trooperKat Von D’s Tattoo Liner in Trooper is a product I’ve been using for a long time, and for some reason have never dedicated a post to… so here it is!

Achieve eye perfection with this high-pigment, waterproof liner that stays put all day for a fade-, melt-, crack-, and run-resistant finish. The superfine and flexible brush tip glides across the lashline for incredibly fluid application, allowing you to create a variety of looks with ease. Unlike traditional felt tip liners, this brush tip will not fray.

The pics below are of both the regular version, and the anniversary edition that was out last year because the packaging was just so darn pretty I just had to include them. The felt tip is perfect for precise lines, and it stays in place all day without smudging or running. There have even been nights where I was too lazy to remove my eye makeup and in the morning my eyeliner still looked amazing. I’ve never had a problem with the felt tip losing shape, and it lasts me about 2-3 months of everyday use before it starts to dry out. It can dry out while you are applying, but I find a couple quick swipes on the back of my hand or putting the cap on and giving it a shake will get the liquid flowing again.

It does have a bit of a shine to it, and I would love to find an eyeliner that performs as well as this but is completely matte – so if you have a suggestion I would love to hear it!

Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner is completely free of animal-derived ingredients and is not tested on animals.

kat von d everlasting liquid lipstick in bauhau5

kat von d everlasting liquid lipstick in bauhau5I finally managed to snag a full size Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita and with it, I picked up this beauty… Bauhau5 – Kat originally named this shade Mau5 as she was dating DeadMau5 and then renamed it after they broke up. In my head for the first few weeks I was pronouncing it Bow-How-5, but it is apparently pronounced Bauhaus (Bow-House) which Wikipedia says was an art school in Germany. TIL!

As for the lipstick – it’s a beautiful raspberry shade that sets quickly and stays in place all day. It is drying, as all matte liquid lipsticks tend to be for me, so I always make sure to exfoliate and apply lip balm for a while before applying, and then again at night.

The line is paraben free and cruelty free – and the ingredients (source Paula’s Choice) are:
Isododecane, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Hydrogenated Styrene/Isoprene Copolymer, Polyethylene, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Wax, Propylene Carbonate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-T-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Dicalcium Phosphate.

The only thing I find is I’ve gotten so used to the deluxe sample sized versions that there’s a bit of a learning curve to using the longer wand, but for something this gorgeous I’m willing to keep trying!

kat von d mi vida loca eyeshadow palette

kat von d mi vida loca eyeshadow paletteI’ve bought a few eyeshadow palettes over the past couple months and with the holiday season being so hectic I just didn’t find the time to post about them… one of those is the absolutely stunning Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca eyeshadow palette. When it was first released I didn’t think to much of it, it was beautiful to look at but I just wasn’t sure how often I would use it… but after seeing a few of Chelle’s looks I had to get my hands on it and thankfully it was still in stock in November when I picked it up.

This beauty has 31 shades: 7 neutral and 24 vibrant in the shape of a colour wheel. To say it’s big would be an understatement… It’s HUGE (see pic below with my hand on it) and is packaged like a record – the palette slips right out of the cover – definitely not great for travel.

I love the mix of mattes and shimmers and the layout is so pleasing to look at – it makes it extremely easy to put a look together. The matte shades definitely need a base like NYX Milk to make them pop but the swatches below are without any primer and a lot of them are still quite bold (for me anyway!).

I tend to shy away from bright colours in the winter but I am looking forward to playing a bit more when the sun comes out and the weather warms up.

The look below is with Legend, Harpsichord and Rewind – currently my go-to ‘I don’t know what makeup to wear today’ look, paired with KVD’s Lolita.
