I absolutely love being introduced to new brands, and when they are made in Canada it’s even better. Midnight Hour Beauty is a Canadian indie brand owned by fellow blogger Sarah who has recently re-opened her shop and is developing some beautiful new products that I am excited to share with you today!
Starting nice and easy for my first beauty post after my not-so-short blog vacation, with the oh-so-pretty Dior Addict Lip Glow. This is a product I bought specifically for the packaging, and just hoped that it was decent enough to justify the $41 CDN price tag.

I picked it up in 001 pink, and it is the perfect ‘my lips but better’ shade. It’s also the most amazingly creamy lip balm I have ever worn. I typically have four or five different balms/glosses in my purse and I almost always reach for this one. It feels wonderful going on and my lips feel comfortable and hydrated for an hour or two. It has SPF 10 which is great, but if that’s all you are looking for there are plenty of options that are far cheaper. This, to me, is a splurge item. It’s absolutely wonderful in every way but the price. I’ll definitely buy it again one day, but it won’t be a regular item in my makeup bag.
Little known fact about me – I love to play trumpet. I started when I was 7 or 8 playing cornet (a smaller version of a trumpet) at the church I attended, and then moved on to playing trumpet in junior high and high school. I ended up losing mine at some point and my husband surprised me with a new one for Christmas 4 years ago. One of the things that has always amazed me was the beating my lips would take after long sessions of playing and practicing, so I was very excited to test out Gosling’s ChopSaver.
Dan Gosling is a professional trumpet player and was inspired to make this product after a conversation he had with a student who injured himself during a performance, and it led to him spending 2 months in his kitchen mixing natural healing elements and plant-based moisturizers until he found exactly what he was looking for.
One of the big ingredients is Arnica, a natural healing agent derived from a sunflower which reduces bruising and swelling. It also has shea butter, mango butter, avocado oil, aloe, citrus oils and grapeseed oil. It has SPF 15, smells like citrus and feels amazing on my lips. I don’t only use it before and after practice, I use it constantly and even with the extremely cold dry weather we are having lately they feel better than they have in a long time. My husband is a lip balm addict and I have been hiding it from him because I know if he tries it he’ll want it – thankfully they sell it at Long & McQuade so I’ll be able to get more! It’s also available at CVS/pharmacies and online.
