Mani Monday: Julep Coretta

mani monday: julep coretta
I forgot to add it to my resolutions post, but I told myself that I was going to start painting my nails again. I easily have over 200 polishes that have been sitting completely neglected, and one that I was really excited to try was Julep Coretta. I ran out of my favourite top coat, normally I would have just re-ordered it but I am trying to use what I have so I opened up my unused bottle of Julep Freedom Polymer Top Coat instead.

Julep Coretta Color Description: Gold-Capped Diamond Birthstone. Full-Coverage Holographic Microglitter with real diamond dust for extra sparkle.

I don’t know why I applied a coat of C&E Petal Pink before Julep Coretta, it doesn’t show through at all… and I probably should have instead gone with a fun colour that would – but it’s my first manicure in months and it reminds me of glittery snow (it’s that ‘real diamond dust’ sparkle!) so it works.

mani monday with crabtree & evelyn

mani monday with crabtree & evelynMy first mani monday of 2016! Honestly I haven’t even painted my nails since before Christmas, so I was excited to receive this adorable little package from Crabtree & Evelyn. They sent over 4 shades of their Neil Lacquers:

Beautyberry: When cheerful pinks mingle with bold reds, the festivities begin. Our brilliantly bright and festive shade is always the life of the party.
Orchid: Vibrant, bold purple hue is as wild and enchanting as the flower that inspired it. This fast-drying polish glides on smoothly.
Cranberry: We’ve added a bit of magic to the classic crimson red, creating a perfectly bold, glamourous and fresh colour for your nails.
Wine: An enchanting blend of opulent, deep reds create an intoxicating balance that pares perfectly with your party dress.

All 4 provided almost full coverage in 1 coat. The brush is small and firm and makes it very easy to apply without making a mess – typically after a long hiatus I feel like I’m starting over and end up spending more time cleaning up than applying nail polish, but I had next to none.

Swatches below are with 1 coat and with the flash on (darn sun setting at 5pm) – so they are a bit darker in person. I wouldn’t be able to choose a favourite of the 4, and they are absolutely perfect for Valentine’s day which is already somehow less than a month away!

mani monday: the collection nails by kiss #2

mani monday: the collection nails by kissHappy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. We spent ours inside, in our pajamas watching movies – it was fabulous. I posted a few weeks ago about The Collection Nails from KISS, and I have another beautiful set to show off today. I can’t find the name of them, so I’m going to just call them ‘Cherry Blossom’

The kit contains
•24 Design Nails in 12 Sizes
•Pink Gel Glue (2g)
•Mini File
•Manicure Stick

I love the design… the pink gradient tip, the blossoms… they look like a painting, and the length is perfect. They had felt a little long the first time, but I’ve gotten used to it. The Pink Gel Glue is mess free, and the nails are extremely easy to apply. Took less than 10 minutes from the time I opened the box until I had them all set and in place. I did use OPI Nail Envy as a base this time, just to give my nails a bit of extra strength. I should get about 5 days of wear which is about how long it takes for me to get bored of a nail design – so these are perfect for me!
