Like the rest of the beauty-obsessed world I was super excited for the Too Faced Sweet Peach launch. I was lucky enough to get the eyeshadow palette when it launched in the spring, but was anxious to get my hands on the rest of the line.
What I didn’t realize is that these are all permanent now. Had I known I probably wouldn’t have bought three of the glosses because they are $24 each… but what’s done is done. I honestly didn’t even look up swatches, I saw ‘peach oil lip gloss’ (skipped ‘creamy’ all together) and assumed they would be similar to the YSL Volupté Tint-in-Oil which I love but use sparingly because they are even more expensive; spoiler alert… they aren’t similar at all.
Anyway, I am starting with my favourite of the three: Papa Don’t Peach. Too Faced describes the shade as Spiced Peach, on me it looks like a warm medium-nude lipgloss.
Sweet Peach Creamy Lip Oil has a moisture-rich formula that feels lightweight and creamy. It features shades in nudes, peachy pinks, and corals. Silky and smooth, it’s infused with the skin-loving essence of peach, coconut oil, and vitamins, and each shade smells just like peaches.
The packaging is cute, and it’s a minor thing but the adorable peach on the cap is just one of those puffy-gummy stickers. On one of the tubes it was already lifting when I opened it, so I’m not sure how well it will hold up in my purse – and it isn’t in the exact center of the cap which bugs the heck out of me.
The applicator is extremely soft and does a great job of applying the gloss. The gloss itself isn’t sticky at all, it’s creamy and hydrating and feels absolutely amazing on my lips. The scent of artificial peach is quite intense and I can still smell it after 10 minutes so if you are sensitive to scent you’ll probably want to avoid this; and it tastes a bit like the sugar on fuzzy peaches. It is a bit streaky and I feel like I need to reapply every 45 – 60 minutes, though that is mostly because my lips have been really dry these past few weeks (I’ve been choosing coffee and wine over water a bit too much… I’m on vacation!).
