Yesterday was Bobby and Daddy’s first Taekwondo Winter Tournament and they’d been looking forward to it for weeks. We weren’t sure how well Cordelia would do at an almost all-day event, so we took both vehicles just in case. Cordelia really wanted to participate too and kept saying how big of a girl she was, so Bobby spent some time showing her his pattern before running off to see his friends.
They were both competing in light sparring and poomse (pattern), which were happening at the same time in different areas, so I missed out on seeing my husband compete and only saw him between events. Thankfully my father-in-law was there and got a few pictures of him in action. Bobby did a wonderful job on his poomse, and I was extremely proud of him for how well he did with sparring. I know it is something that is completely outside of his comfort zone, and his adrenaline was going… but even when he started to lose control of his emotions, he took a deep breath and got right back into it. He may not have won the match, but his confidence was soaring when it was all said and done.
They both walked away with two medals each – Bobby received bronze and Daddy, gold. It was so much fun for all of us and we are all looking forward to the next one!
