If you follow me on instagram you might have seen my excitement over winning items from the beautiful Clarins Fall 2015 Pretty Day & Pretty Night collections from Dave Lackie. This was my first experience with the brand and I had heard really great things so I was really looking forward to trying them.
My first impression when I opened up the boxes was how beautiful the packaging is. It feels very ‘grown up’… like something you would find displayed on your mothers vanity (now *I’M* that mother, and that feels a bit weird). On to the products!
Pretty Day 5-Colour Eyeshadow Palette
Create your day make-up with our Pretty Day Palette including 5 nude shades (matte beige, satin fresh pink, shimmering taupe, matte brown, satin brown) in a golden case, shiny black holder.
This palette includes also:
A golden blond applicator handle, double-ended: a natural hair cats tong shape and tip foams.
Application method cards presenting 2 types of make-up: a natural one, a sophisticated one (make-up lessons)
This little palette is beautifully packaged in a gold case and is securely closed with an elastic making it great for travel. It has 5 beautiful neutral shades with a mix of finishes (2 matte, 2 satin, 1 shimmer) and they are all extremely soft and blend wonderfully. The little double ended brush is great for touchups throughout the day and it comes with an application card if you want ideas for shadow placement. It’s the perfect little neutral palette – especially for only $39.00.
Crayon Khôl in True Violet
New. Multi-faceted. An essential for intensifying the eyes. Kohl Crayon can be applied as a traditional kohl or around the eye contour area, blended the natural hair brush. Long-wearing formula.
To use as a kohl: apply inside the lower lash line. To use as ‘liquid’ eye liner: draw a line along the base of your upper and / or lower lashes. Blend onto the eyelid using the natural hair brush applicator.
Beautiful violet shade, I haven’t worn it yet but it was very smooth when I swatched it and it blended out easily with the attached natural hair brush. The $26.00 price tag seems a bit steep, but I think the attached brush makes it worth it because it eliminates needing an extra brush for touch ups, and it’s easy to clean.
Ombre Matte Cream to Powder Eyeshadow in Heather
Clarins’ new cream to powder eyeshadow combines the comfort and smoothing effect of a cream, with the long-lasting, fresh matte finish of a powder. The Luxuriously light, easy-to-blend texture is perfect for any look.
I am not a big fan of cream eyeshadows because my experience with blending them out has not been great, so I was surprised and happy when I opened it to find it isn’t really a cream – it feels more like a really soft slightly-bouncy pressed powder. As for the shade, I don’t own anything even slightly similar. It’s absolutely beautiful and so pigmented. $24.00 is a bit too much for me to pay for 1 shade of eyeshadow, but if you wear 1 shade regularly then the quality is worth it.
Rouge Eclat in Tawny Rose
A highly nutritious, creamy lipstick with anti-aging properties and luminous color to restore smoothness and radiance to lips. Thanks to its Nutri-Youth complex, lips are intensely nourished and feel comfortable. Day after day, their beauty is restored and they become visibly younger.
I don’t know about lipstick making my lips visibly younger – I don’t wear one lipstick regularly enough for that to happen, but I was still an instant fan. It felt very hydrating, applied wonderfully without any tugging, and I love the colour.
I put together the look above for my daughter’s 2nd birthday party last weekend using:
Eyes: Urban Decay Primer Potion | Clarins Pretty Day 5-Colour Eyeshadow Palette | Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper | Urban Decay Perversion Mascara | Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Ebony
Lips: Rouge Eclat in Tawny Rose
