mani monday – #HePicksMyPolish

#HePicksMyPolish Mani MondayHappy Monday all! I can’t believe it’s already time for the August #HePicksMyPolish challenge. I had my husband pick this month and he was a lot kinder in his choices than he has been in previous months. I’ve been wanting to do a doticure manicure like this for a while so his choices fit perfectly.

I started as always with a couple coats of OPI Nail Envy as my base, randomly dotted on my 3 chosen polishes, and topped with 2 coats of my new favorite top coat KBShimmer Clearly On Top.

  1. I love it! Subtle, but not, if that makes sense…
I’ve asked my husband to pick my polish before and he says he doesn’t care, haha!
My husband’s name is also Rob and he thought he was the 26th Robert in his Scottish family, but we did some ancestry stuff and he’s only the 3rd and he’s not Scottish at all. He was heartbroken, but he’s glad we don’t have to name our first born son Robert, though I was okay with it!

  2. I love those nails!! If I attempted to paint my nails like that it would look horrible! I am so bad at doing my own nails!

      1. I was skeptical at first (it was his idea, if you can believe it) but he’s actually really good at it. I will have to join your link-up. Still counts as picking the polish if he does the painting too, right? I think I can make an exception for a nail post on our blog because it’s showing his artistic side šŸ™‚

  3. I love it. My husband would never pick my polish. Maybe if I forced him, but he would panic and then I would end up with something god awful, or too perfect and he would never be able to stop picking it!

    1. haha – I have had some absolutely awful picks, mostly because while the bottles looked okay next to each other, the formulas were not meant to be mixed!

  4. If my husband picked my polish he would choose the lightest pink I have. lol He hates painted nails, and I have my hands in water so much I don’t have time to maintain!

But, if I let one of my boys pick we’d have some fun!

  5. i wanna learn how to do dots!! šŸ˜› i seriously have no idea how you do it so clean!! i have a nail pen that I bought which I thought would be easier to apply.. since it’s a pen.. that was a mess too. šŸ™ it’s gonna take a lot more practice for me!

    1. oh pens are almost always awful! I just pour little pools of polish on an ice cream lid (one of those plastic ones) and dip my dotting tool in – I do all of one colour at a time, quickly wipe off the polish and move on to the next.

  6. I really really love your polka dot nails! Soo fun and bright. I love that your base coat is natural and doesn’t compete with your dots. I want to try this.

  7. I love this! So bright and cheerful! I did polka dots a few months ago, and it took so long that I haven’t done it since, but I loved the outcome.
