If you had told me even 5 years ago that I would one day be obsessed with yellow gold accessories I would have told you you were crazy. But I seriously can’t get enough of it – which is why during the 20% off sale at Sephora I had to get this 24 karat Gold Mine Brush Set.
The set comes with 6 brushes, including 3 with ‘new exclusive shapes’. The brushes are 100% synthetic and infused with 24-karat gold. I don’t know if there’s a purpose to the gold, other than the fact that it makes the brushes look really pretty. Really, really pretty. It also comes with a beautiful wooden gold textured brush stand that looks wonderful on my makeup table.
The brushes themselves are densely packed and oh so soft – I feel like I’m applying my makeup with a cloud – and the handles are stunning gold with black rubber ends. I have washed them a few times and use them daily, and I haven’t experienced any shedding. Here’s a little breakdown of the brushes in the set:
When it comes to applying foundation, I didn’t think there would ever be a brush I loved as much as I love my beauty blender. This complexion perfector changed my mind. It buffs my foundation in quickly and beautifully, and I won’t have to replace it in 3 months!
Natural Flush Blush
Ridiculously soft, it picks up and applies delicate powder wonderfully and I find it makes my blush look very natural.
All Over Shadow Brush (New and exclusive shape)
This is an interesting one, as the brush is sort of an inverted-dome shape. It fits the contour of the eye nicely, but I’m so used to patting product on with a flat brush that this is taking some getting used to. I find I reach more for it to apply the final touch of shimmer to the middle of my eye after the rest of my eyeshadow is on.
Dimension Crease Brush
This is the thickest and densest crease brush I’ve owned, and I find it’s been really great for applying my first crease / transitional shade and blending, and then I use my thinner crease brushes for darker product.
Precision Corrector Brush (New and exclusive shape)
Absolutely love this for blending my under eye concealer. It’s so soft I can get it in to the corners of my eyes without any irritation.
Soft Focus Liner Brush (New and exclusive shape)
This one has taken a bit of getting used to too as I’m very used to an angled brush. I use this to apply dark/black eyeshadow along my upper lash line when I am looking for a more natural look, and it works beautifully.
Full price this set sells for $106.00 CDN, which may seem pricy but it actually works out to about $18.00 a brush, and for the quality I think it’s well worth it!
